Toe Length and Shoe Placement
The distance between pivot points seems a good measure of "toe length".
In illustration "A" the hoof angle is roughly 60 degrees. The distance indicated by the red arrow is 3.5" at 45 degrees.
The distance indicated by the blue arrow is 3.2" at 50 degrees. The difference is .3" or roughly 9%. The green arrow extends from the P2 / P3 pivot point to the flexor process. It is 1.4" long at 66 degrees.

In illustration "B" the hoof angle is roughly 50 degrees. The distance of the red arrow is 3.8" at 37 degrees. The green arrow is 1.5" at 59 degrees.
The red arrow in this illustration is 3.2" long at 46 degrees. This red arrow is roughly 16% shorter than the red arrow in illustration B. The green arrow is of course the same as in illustration B.
Toe C is now shorter than the toe measured at the red arrow in toe A. This "shortening" comes at no expense to the horse. No soft tissue or skeletal changes have been made. It is the result of shoe type and placement only.
